Professional Bio
I am a Fourth year PhD Candidate working toward a Dual Title in Comparative Literature and Asian Studies with a minor in Visual Studies.
My research considers the uses of Noir as methodology to (re)construct our understanding of human relationality and the social. I focus on Japanese and Korean literature and film from the post war to the contemporary period, paying special attention to depictions of family or its absence, and the central roles violence and depravity perform in its (de)construction. My other interests concern Cyberpunk as a cofigural Japanamerican imaginary and unique formulations of violence in horror cinema.
