Comparative Literature welcomes new assistant professor, Magalí Armillas-Tiseyra

The department is thrilled to announce that as of Fall 2015 we will be joined by Magalí Armillas-Tiseyra. Professor Armillas-Tiseyra works on African and Latin American literatures. Her current book project is a comparative study of novels about dictators in the post-independence literatures of Africa and Latin America, focusing on the intersections of literature and politics across historical and geographic contexts. Professor Armillas-Tiseyra will contribute to the department’s existing strenghts in both Latin American and African literatures (she’s our fourth Latin Americanist, and fourth Africanist), and expand more broadly our interest in such topics as postcolonial studies, the aesthetics of globalization, and South-South comparison.
