Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

University and Department Plagiarism Policy

The Department of Comparative Literature upholds academic honesty as one of the most important values within the University.  Presenting as your own the ideas and words of others—plagiarism will not be tolerated.

Generally students who cheat (plagiarism is a form of cheating) should expect to lose out in their course work, not learning from the assignments, receiving zeroes for the assignment or assignments, and occasionally receiving failing grades for the entire course depending on the severity of the offense.  The university policy on plagiarism can be found here: https://undergrad.psu.edu/aappm/G-9-academic-integrity.html

Our colleagues in the English Department have put together a great explanation of plagiarism with suggestions for avoiding it here: http://english.la.psu.edu/undergraduate/plagiarism-policy

Students should check the syllabi of their courses for course-specific expectations, suggestions, and penalties.
