Robert Lima


Education

Robert Lima did his undergraduate degree work in English and Philosophy at Villanova University (1953-1957), being elected to Alpha Psi Omega National Honorary Drama Fraternity. He also received the Master of Arts degree in Theatre and Drama (1961) from that same institution upon completion of his active duty in the United States Army Reserve. Thereafter, he worked as a freelance writer, editor and translator for several New York City publishing houses, as well as in film production, off-Broadway theatre and broadcasting, the latter for the Voice of America. In 1962 he entered the teaching profession as a full-time Lecturer in Romance Languages at Hunter College of the City University of New York and began concurrent doctoral studies at New York University. He received the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Romance Languages and Literatures (1968) with departmental honors, earning New York University's Founders' Day Award for Academic Excellence.
