Chinese Conversation Partner Program

The Chinese Program at Penn State offers a Chinese Conversation Partner Program that is free and open to all Penn State students. Undergraduate Chinese interns and peer tutors are available to practice spoken Chinese with you in the Learning Center in the basement of Sparks Building. To know more about the program and tutor schedules, email Ms. Liana Chen, the supervisor for the Conversation Partner Program. Note: This is not an exchange program. You do not have the reciprocal responsibility to practice spoken English with your conversation partner.


Informal Language & Cultural Exchange Opportunities

1. The Penn State International Programs Office Conversation Partners Program
Matches native speakers of English with non-native speakers for the purpose of language practice and cultural exchange. Allows for FREE one-on-one interaction in English or ESL practice in exchange for practice of another language. Note: This is a two-way exchange. You do have to offer your time in return. To sign up, contact the Global Connections (Eva M. Letwin, Program Coordinator, 404A Boucke Building; Tel: (814) 863-3927; Email: globalconnections@ip.psu.edu).

2. ESL - Chinese Language Exchange
Practice conversational Chinese with Chinese students in the ESL classes, and help them with their spoken English. To sign up, contact Dr. Paula Golombek (814-865-7365), the supervisor of the English as Second Language Program in Linguisitcs and Applied Language Studies.
