TEACHING EXPERIENCE
CHINESE
Since fall of 2007 I have been teaching Chinese language courses at Pennsylvania State University. The courses I have taught: beginning of Chinese 1 & 2; beginning of Chinese heritage track 1.
MUSIC
Since fall 2005 I have been employed full-time by P.S. Arts, a nonprofit organization that sends music and arts teachers into Los Angeles Title I public schools that can afford only minimal publicly funded arts programs. I divide my teaching time between two LAUSD schools, Walgrove Elementary (K-5, high special education and autistic enrollment) and Broadway Elementary (K-6). My curriculum, based primarily on the Orff and Kodaly music teaching methods, focuses on singing, body movement, percussion, and the use of instruments (recorders, xylophones, and other small non-pitched percussion instruments). I also help organize the schools’ regular concert programs (Winter, Cinco de Mayo, and so on).
