Dr. Yoko Tawada 

 

Ph.D in German Literature (University of Zurich, 2000)

       "A Playful Journey through Words, Sound, and Body: Readings in Japanese, German, and English"

Monday, January 24 at 12:40 pm in 102 Kern Building.

  This lecture is part of the Comparative Literature Brown Bag Luncheon.  Everyone is invited to bring a lunch and meet in 102 Kern at 12:15. Coffee and tea will be provided free of charge.

Dr. Tawada (b. 1960, Japan) writes poetry, prose, essays, and plays.  She has been living in Germany since 1982 and publishes in both Japanese and German.  She likes to experiment with both languages and traditional literary forms that reveal her rich imagination.  Among the works that brought her renown is her novel The Bridegroom was a Dog.  She has received numerous awards for her work in Japanese and German.

 

This visit is co-sponsored by the Institute of the Arts and Humanities, the East Asian Studies Committee, and the Comparative Literature and German/Slavic Departments.

This lecture is free and open to the public.
