CAEG is an interdisciplinary group of scholars who have received IAH funding for 2003-2005 to conduct a two-year program entitled "Boundaries" on the main campus of The Pennsylvania State University. The annual focus of "Boundaries" will treat two related, timely topics: "Re-writing the Asian Canon" and "Focus on Asia: The State of Nations and Ethnic Conflict." The CAEG program will include visiting speakers and performers/exhibitions, collaborative seminars, and a film series. CAEG aims to promote interdisciplinarity among departments, faculty and graduate students, and to supplement Penn State's present curriculum at the graduate and undergraduate levels in the areas of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language, religion, history, economics, political science, literature, theatre, architecture, philosophy, art and art history, and film. Both of the annual focuses are related to, and seek to implement and expand, recent concerns and theories of globalization, diaspora, ethnicity, conflict, and diversity.
